GX Series External Stop/Start Setup
The GX Series Soft Starter allows for a 2-line (on/off switch) or 3-line (non latching push buttons) start/stop method as illustrated in the image below:
Setup External On/Off Switch (Single On/Off Selector)
Use a normally Open/Close Switch, connect the Normally Open wire with DI1 and the Common wire with Common and then set:
- P0-06 = 1 (terminal control)
- P2-01 = 4 (DI1 = start mode = default)
- P2-24 = 0 (2-line start mode = default)
Ideally also set the following (please see notes further on for further explanation):
- Set P0-05 = 0 (Free Stop Mode)
- Set P0-09 = 10.0 (Startup Delay time to delay the Start-up Process)
* Please Note: If the On/Off Switch is in the On state and a power failure occurs, the Soft Starter will automatically start again when the power returns (for such a scenario its best to rather make use of a Free Stop Mode and also allow for a Start Delay when the power returns). A better Stop/Start method would be to use separate Stop and Start Push Buttons as described below:
Setup of External Push Buttons (On and Off Buttons)
When using Push Buttons use a 3-Line Mode Stop/Start Setup and connect the Start Button wire to DI1, the Stop Button wire to DI2 and the 3rd wire with Common and then set:
- P0-06 = 1 (terminal control)
- P2-01 = 4 (DI1 = start mode = default)
- P2-02 = 5 (DI2 = three wire stop = default)
- P2-24 = 1 (3-line start mode)
